GRESHAM — Aaron Ghiglieri of the Triton Swim Team produced a fast time in winning the consolation finals in the 50 freestyle at the Speedo Championship Series Senior Sectionals at the Mount Hood Aquatic Center Saturday.

GRESHAM — Aaron Ghiglieri of the Triton Swim Team produced a fast time in winning the consolation finals in the 50 freestyle at the Speedo Championship Series Senior Sectionals at the Mount Hood Aquatic Center Saturday.

The 24.03-second time qualified Ghiglieri for the Junior Nationals Long Course Championships. The 15-year-old holds a second-place national ranking in the 50 free for his age group.

It was the second junior nationals qualifying mark for Ghiglieri. He also earned a spot in the 100 free, another event in which he holds a high national ranking.

On Friday, Ghiglieri's fifth-place time in the butterfly gave him a fifth-place ranking in the nation for his age group.

The junior nationals will take place Aug. 10-15 in Federal Way, Wash.

Also for the Triton Swim Team, in her first exposure to the senior sectionals, 13-year-old Breanna Sapienza placed 62nd out of 85 swimmers with a time of 28.43 in the 50 free.

Sapienza will be in the Western Zones meet Aug. 4-8 in Hawaii along with fellow local swimmers Sarah Reierson and Grace Jovanovic.
