Edgar Pleasant, 87, of Sams Valley, Ore., passed away Friday, July 24, 2009 in Central Point, Ore. A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel, 800 S. Front St. Reverand Bunny Oliver of Beaver Creek United Church of Christ.Memorial contributions may be made to Access.
Edgar was born April 4, 1922 in Piggott, Ark., to Sheely and Rosa Pleasant. He resided in Sams Valley from 1946-2009. He married his wife, Ruby Marie (Schulz) Pleasant on Jan. 16, 1946 in Olympia, Wash., she preceded him in death in Dec. 1990.
Edgar worked as a logger and a farmer. In his freetime he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He served in the U.S. Army 96th Infantry Division during WWII.
Edgar is survived by his sons, Timothy Pleasant, of San Jose, Calif. and Kevin Pleasant, of Sams Valley, Ore.; daughter, Cynthia Andrews, of Beaver Creek, Ore.; sisters, Peggy Batson and Betty Caery, both of Foreman, Ark.; brother, Bill Pleasant, of Springdale, Ark.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby; brother, Ezra Pleasant; and sister, Nadine Scalley. Arrangements entrusted to Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel. 664-3361
