GRESHAM — Sarah Reierson made it five local swimmers who will be heading to the junior nationals in Columbus, Ohio, in December after her qualifying time at the 11-over state championships at Mt. Hood Aquatic Center on Thursday.

GRESHAM — Sarah Reierson made it five local swimmers who will be heading to the junior nationals in Columbus, Ohio, in December after her qualifying time at the 11-over state championships at Mt. Hood Aquatic Center on Thursday.

Reierson, a 15-year-old member of the Superior Stingrays Swim Club, finished the 100 backstroke in 1 minute, 6.14 seconds, good for third place.

Breanna Sapienza, Aaron Ghiglieri, Kelsey Hoeper and Clark Snyder will accompany Reierson in Columbus in December.

Sapienza placed fourth and had a personal record in the 50 free with a time of 28.12. The 13-year-old came on even stronger in her next event, besting another personal record in the 100 back by two seconds to win. She clocked 1:09.74.

The Stingrays' Lauren Hunter, 12, placed eighth in the 100 back finals with a time of 1:17.5.
