Robert J. Kadarauch



Robert J. Kadarauch, 91, died Friday, July 24, 2009 at Rogue Valley Medical Center.



He was born on June 28, 1918 in Laurence, Mass. to John P. and Elizabeth Ceasar Kadarauch. An accomplished violinist, he was granted a full scholarship to the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. After graduation he was inducted into the Marine Corps, serving in the U.S. Marine Band and Symphony Orchestra.



On Sept. 21, 1941 He married Elizabeth Jane Sheetz, a fellow student at the Eastman School. When his enlistment of six years in the Marine Corps was completed, he joined a family business in Freeport Ill., where they raised four children.

Following retirement in 1978 they lived in Door County, Wisc., Carefree, Ariz. and Bodega Bay, Calif., before moving to the Rogue Valley Manor in 1994.

He is survived by his wife and three sons; Robert Jr and his wife, Mary McClintock, of The Sea Ranch, Calif.; David and his wife, Anne Oldham, of San Francisco and Mendocino, Calif. and Joel and his wife, Kathryn Clayton, of Anchorage, Alaska. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; Elizabeth Schirmer, of Las Cruses, N.M.; Matthew Schirmer and his wife, Heather Dominique, of Raleigh, N.C.; David Kadarauch, of Warsaw, Poland; Mary (Molly) Kadarauch and her husband, Michael Pascas, of Melbourne, Australia; Alexander, Hayward, Calif. and Katie Kadarauch, of San Francisco, Calif.; Allison Galbraith and her husband, Leon, Lucy and John Kadarauch, of Anchorage, Alaska; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen R. Schirmer, in 2005.

There will be a family memorial at a later time.
