A Medford man was eliminated from the U.S. Amateur this morning after bogeying on the first playoff hole in the tournament at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.

A Medford man was eliminated from the U.S. Amateur this morning after bogeying on the first playoff hole in the tournament at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.

Barry's one-over-par shot was on the difficult, 200-yard 14th hole, a par 3 with lots of bunkering around it. Twenty-seven players who tied at 8 over par in qualifying had competed for four opoen spots in the 64-man match-play bracket.

Two players birdied to advance into match play, leaving 11 others who parred the hole to play for the final two berths. Fourteen players were eliminated on the first hole with bogey or worse.
