Donnelly's Sports Pub & Grill inside Lava Lanes faces a civil penalty from the Oregon Liquor Control Commission for selling alcohol to an underage customer.

The pub must pay a penalty of $3,795 or serve a 23-day suspension of its license under a settlement approved last week.

The license holders — Ric Donnelly, Kennedy & Donnelly LLC and managing member Kathryn Kennedy — will be removed from the responsible vendor program.

Donnelly said the pub will pay the penalty and has fired the employee who served an underage drinker during an OLCC enforcement operation on April 16. He said it was the second violation for that employee.

OLCC spokeswoman Christie Scott said Donnelly's has a generally good record, with only one other violation in the past two years. In 2008, an underage drinker was served and the pub paid a penalty and installed age verification equipment to check identification.

Mail Tribune archives show that the business had a spate of violations involving serving underage customers or allowing them to be in restricted bar areas in 2004 and 2005.
