Southern Oregon University has hired Raj Parikh as dean of the School of Business.
He begins work Monday.

Parikh has 17 years of experience in academic administration as department chair, master in business administration program director, dean, provost and vice president of academic affairs.
Currently he is the chief executive officer of Ras Al Khaimah Education Company in the United Arab Emirates.

He earned his doctorate in accounting and finance at the University of Buffalo. He is a chartered financial analyst , a certified management accountant and a certified financial manager. He is co-author of World Accounting, a three-volume book on international accounting.

From 2004 to 2007, Parikh was provost, vice president for academic affairs and acting dean of the college of business at Delaware State University in Dover, Del. Prior to that, he served as dean of the division of business and professor of business administration at Wilmington University in Wilmington, Del.

In a statement announcing Parikh’s hiring, SOU Provost James Klein praised his work in helping universities with financial challenges, accreditation, starting new programs, increasing enrollment and establishing new instructional sites.

In the same statement released today, Parikh said he looked forward to working with students and the business community, noting that he advocates making higher education accessible to working adults.
