Steve and Nellie Sutch celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Aug. 17 with a family dinner.

Steve and Nellie Sutch celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Aug. 17 with a family dinner.

Steve Sutch married Nellie Dodson on Aug. 18, 1939, in Winchester, W.Va.

Steve worked as a coal miner in Pennsylvania. They moved to Oregon in 1948, where he worked as a logger. They owned and operated Steve's Saw Shop until they retired in 1976.

Nellie belonged to the Rebekah Lodge for 45 years. Steve was an avid deer and elk hunter. Now they enjoy family gatherings, going to the casino, playing cards and eating out.

They have five children, Steve Sutch Jr., of Myrtle Creek, Edwin Sutch of Glendale, Darl Sutch of Luxembourg, Europe, Gary Sutch of Anchorage, Alaska, and Debbie Sutch of Creswell. They also have nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
