Beverly J. Darling



Beverly J. Darling passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, Aug. 17, 2009 at the age of 93. Became an Ashland resident when she was nine years old, Beverly went to college in Eugene and Ashland to receive her teaching degree. She taught elementary school in Prospect, Ore.



She married David Moore on Aug. 21, 1940 and they moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where they both attended UCLA and helped build aircraft during WWII. She also became Phi Beta Kappa at UCLA where she earned a Master's Degree. They subsequently moved to Wyoming in 1949, where they lived until moving to Denver in 1967. Beverly taught in and retired from the Denver public schools in 1980. David Moore passed away in 1989.



Beverly returned to Ashland and married Ken Darling in 1991 and they were both active in the Methodist Church. Beverly was active in the United Methodist Women, a service organization actively raising money for hunger and women's right throughout the world. She also was active in Susanna Circle, Bible Studies, Meals on Wheels and the Ashland Food Bank.



Beverly enjoyed arts and crafts, making paintings, pottery, and stained glass and did weaving and knitting.



Beverly had two daughters, Janet and Donna, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Evelyn Moore, as well as her extended family, including Bob Cuffel, Sue and John Lyons, and Bob's sons, Robert Jr., and Don; also grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.



A memorial service for Beverly will be held Friday, Sept. 4, 2009 at 3:00 p.m., at the United First Methodist Church of Ashland. A reception will follow at Wesley Hall and all are welcome to attend.
