Ruth Ellen Hall

Ruth E. Hall, 96, passed away on Aug. 22, 2009 at Avamere Three Fountains in Medford, Ore. Ruth was born on April 20, 1913, to Archibald and May Turpin in Medford. She lived her entire life in the Rogue Valley.

On July 2, 1935, she married Irvin E. Hall, who preceded her in death in 2003. She attended Medford Friends Church, where she loved and was loved by her Church family. Ruth was a homemaker and enjoyed her family, family events, and spent many hours working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She did beautiful handwork which she shared with her family and extended family. She and Irvin enjoyed camping and fishing at Farewell Bend and Whiskey Springs with their friends. After her sister, Phyllis Wick, died in 1991, she became like a mother to her three nieces, Janet, Joan and Jerri.

Ruth had several good friends and neighbors who began a group they called, "The DeBarr Girls;" they met once a month for lunch and telling each other all their "news."

Ruth's family would like to acknowledge her many nieces and nephews with whom she remained close and happily shared in their lives until her death.

Ruth is survived by her three children, Carolyn Allen, Central Point, Richard (Kristin) Hall, Central Point and David (Pat) Hall, of Grants Pass; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Phyllis Wick; husband; and one grandson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends Women Missionary Fellowship of Medford Friends Church.

Ruth's family greatly appreciates the care and concern of the nurses and aides at Three Fountains who helped make Ruth's final days easier.

A memorial service will be held at Medford Friends Church, Medford, Ore., on Friday, Sept. 4, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.
