Top local tennis players Colt Hoeptner and David Tribble were defeated in the boys' 18 singles quarterfinal round during the USTA Northwest Dual 5 tennis tournament at the Rogue Valley Swim & Tennis Club Saturday.

Top local tennis players Colt Hoeptner and David Tribble were defeated in the boys' 18 singles quarterfinal round during the USTA Northwest Dual 5 tennis tournament at the Rogue Valley Swim & Tennis Club Saturday.

However, Hoeptner survived in doubles part of the tournament, which concludes today at the same site.

In singles, Hoeptner, of Eagle Point, lost to Jesse Schneider of Burnaby, B.C., 6-1, 6-2, while Tribble was eliminated by Stuart Tierney of Hillsboro, 6-4, 6-0.

In boys' 18 doubles, Hoeptner and partner Tierney defeated Tribble and Matthew Pronesti of Medford, 8-1, in the semifinals.

Pronesti advanced in the boys' 16 doubles semifinals with teammate Brent Wheeler of Salem. Pronesti was defeated by Wheeler, 6-4, 6-1, in the boys' 16 singles quarterfinals as was Wil Cochrane of Ashland, who lost to Nick Biggi of Portland, 6-1, 6-0.

Cochrane and Quincy Briscoe of Ashland won a boys' 16 doubles quarterfinal-round match, but lost in the semifinals to CJ Ball and Rajul Chikkalingaiah, 8-4.
