I have a 2-year-old who is desperate for some interaction and play time with other toddlers. I've been looking around the Rogue Valley for structured play groups or classes. Unfortunately, those that I do find are for slightly older children — usually 3 or 4 or older. I have friends in bigger cities like Portland who have access to Gymboree play classes, etc., but nothing like that seems available here. Can you please help?

You and your youngster are in luck. The Wobblers in the Library series for tots between 12 and 36 months old has just started in Medford and Ashland. The short story times that include age-appropriate, early-literacy activities are at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave., and at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Ashland library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. The series continues through the first week of November and each session is free.

Another activity for little ones that shows up on the Mail Tribune calendar is Living Earth Circle's community play group, which welcomes children from birth to age 6. It meets from 10 a.m. to noon on the first and third Friday of each month at Pioneer Hall, 73 Winburn Way, Ashland. Each gathering includes music, crafts, family activities and free play on themes such as nature, art, community and kindness. Special events and guest presenters are sometimes scheduled. A parent and one child can drop in for $8 a session or sign up for a three-month run for $35. Each additional person on a drop-in is $4, or families with multiple attendees can pay $50 for three months. For information, call 488-5340 or see livingearthcircle.org online.

Kid Time! Discovery Experience, 226 N. Ross Lane, Medford, has been closed for renovation this month, but was set to reopen Sept. 19. It had a Toddler Town play area with age-appropriate structures and toys, and you are bound to bump into other mothers and toddlers there who might have more ideas about play groups or other activities. Admission is $3 for adults and $6 for kids, with memberships and scholarships available. See www.discoveryspace.org or call 772-9922.
