More than 1,100 Pacific Power customers, including the Medford airport, lost power this morning when a vehicle knocked down a power pole at the intersection Table Rock and Vilas roads.

Pacific Power spokesman Monte Mendenhall said the 6:15 a.m. collision caused a reaction at the nearby Vilas substation, creating the power outage in the Hamrick Road, Pine Street and Table Rock Road areas.

Service was restored to the airport, which switched to auxiliary power, by 7:45 a.m. All but 12 customers had their service restored by 8:30.

Mendenhall said the dozen customers nearest the Four Corners area where the mishap occurred should have service restored by 1 p.m.
