A single-car crash on Lampman Road outside Gold Hill killed a man and left a woman with minor injuries early Monday morning, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department reported.

The crash was reported at 4:13 a.m. Monday and the Sheriff's Department and Medford police responded to the scene on Lampman Road near the Garden Row intersection.

Investigators said the driver, whose name wasn't released pending notification of his family, apparently lost control of his 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass while driving southbound on Lampman Road.

The car rolled, ejecting the driver and pinning him to the ground, the Sheriff's Department said in a news release Monday morning. A Gold Hill woman who was a passenger remained in the car and suffered only minor injuries. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation by an interagency response team is continuing. However, with two large fires scorching the perimeter of Jackson County towns, the Sheriff's Department didn't update details or release the victim's name on Monday.
