The mother of a newborn baby found dead inside a garbage bin at South Medford's Holiday Inn Express Aug. 15 has pleaded not guilty to charges of abuse of a corpse and concealing the birth of an infant.

Denise L. Flanary, 19, of Medford, appeared today before Jackson County Circuit Judge Lisa Greif to hear the charges against her.

The baby's body was discovered Aug. 15 by a homeless man who was rummaging through a garbage bin for recycables outside the hotel on South Pacific Highway.

Authorities have chosen not to release the results of an autopsy performed on the baby girl.

Flanary has been out of jail on bail since her arrest Aug. 25. She lives with her mother.

A pre-trial conference on Flanary's charges is set for Oct. 26.
