Jackson County Democrats will host a panel on the importance of local agriculture after the next Central Committee meeting Thursday.

Jackson County Democrats will host a panel on the importance of local agriculture after the next Central Committee meeting Thursday.

The Central Committee meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the OEA office, 2495 South Pacific Highway in Medford.

A panel discussion starting at 7:15 p.m. will feature Wendy Siporen, director of Thrive; Melissa Matthewson, Oregon State University Extension small farms adviser; and Jim Sims, president of the Medford Food Co-op board.

They will discuss the local harvest movement, sustainability and community supported agriculture. A question-and-answer session will follow the discussion.
