A 52-year-old Medford man died Sunday in a vehicle crash on Interstate 5 north of Glendale caused by a tire blowout, according to Oregon State Police.

A 52-year-old Medford man died Sunday in a vehicle crash on Interstate 5 north of Glendale caused by a tire blowout, according to Oregon State Police.

Sheldon Masterson of Medford, who was driving the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene at about 2:30 p.m. A juvenile passenger was transported by ambulance to Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Masterson was driving southbound near milepost 83 on I-5 in a 1993 Ford pickup when one of the vehicle's tires had a blowout. The pickup left the roadway onto the outside shoulder where it rolled several times.

Masterson and his passenger both were wearing safety restraints.
