A 26-year-old White City man was killed today when the tractor he was driving rolled down an incline at an Eagle Point cattle ranch and pinned him under the vehicle, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.

Jose J. Arellano was found dead beneath the tractor when emergency responders from Jackson County Fire District 3 and Mercy Flights arrived on scene at the Yankee Creek Ranch to try to help him.

The accident occurred around 11 a.m. when Arellano was operating a tractor hauling rock down an incline on a dirt road at the ranch to fill in potholes, said ranch owner Murphy Clark.

"It was a very tragic accident," Clark said.

Arellano who had worked at the ranch for about 10 months left behind a wife and a 2-year-old son, Clark said.
