Betty Lou Waters



Betty Lou Waters, a resident of Central Point, Ore., passed away at her home on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009 with her husband, Johnny and close family by her side. She was 78.

Betty a former Porterville, Calif. resident, was born in DeQueen, Ark. on Sept. 8, 1931 and came to Porterville as a small child. She was the daughter of Floyd and Gracie Cooksey. She attended Porterville schools and worked at the Porterville Developmental Center as a Psychiatric technician for 14 years. She and her husband, Johnny Waters, owned several businesses in the Porterville area before retiring and moving to Southern Oregon.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, A.L. Johnson; and sons, Lyle and Allen (Lynn) Johnson; sisters, Edith Lee, Lenar Lee; and brother, Charles Cooksey. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Johnny Waters, of Central Point, Ore.; sons, Terry Johnson, of Crescent City, Calif. and Darrell Johnson, of Porterville, Calif.; stepdaughter, Samantha, of Minneapolis, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Jess and James Cooksey; and sister, Patsy Roper, all of Porterville, Calif.
