Bradley Dean Yates

At his request, no public services will be held for Bradley D. Yates, 50, of Coos Bay. Cremation Rites will take place at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay, followed by a private family scattering of his ashes at a later date.

Brad was born on Sept. 13, 1959 in Salem, Ore., to Ardell Barnett Yates and Barbara Ann (Helmick) Yates. He passed away on Sept. 22, 2009 at his home in Coos Bay.

Brad spent most of his life in Medford. In his earlier years he worked as a mason apprentice. He married Lynn Davis and together they had three children, Ryan, Nichole and Josh. Later in life, Brad worked for Jackson County as a Drug and Alcohol counselor. Brad loved to fish and play cards. He also enjoyed dancing at Pow Wows where he was a member of Cow Creek Tribe of the Lower Umpqua.

In 2000, Brad moved to Coos Bay to reside with his mother and sister, until his untimely death. He was well loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Brad is survived by his daughter, Nichole Wood, of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; son, Ryan Yates, of Junction City, Kans.; stepson, Josh Dupuis, of Vancouver, Wash.; mother, Barbara Davis, of Coos Bay; sisters, Susan Holcomb, of Coos Bay and JoLynn Kiewiz, of Wyoming; brothers, Michael Smith, Robert Yates, Roy Yates and James Yates, all of Alaska; grandsons, Caleb and Elijah Yates, of Junction City, Kans.; granddaughters, Ellany and Malia Wood of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; and aunt and uncle, Jean and Fred Taylor of Coos Bay.

Brad was preceded in death by his father, Ardell Yates; and sister, Kathy Shaw.
