Skiers and snowboarders, your time is coming.

A trace of snow fell at Crater Lake National Park overnight as a pool of low pressure air flowed across Oregon early today. The Medford airport had its first measurable rain — .01 inch — since Aug. 2.

The wind and rain cleared Southern Oregon skies of smoke that had drifted in from wildfires near Tiller and Oakridge. Air quality was good today at all monitoring sites in the Rogue Valley maintained by the Department of Environmental Quality.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service say showers could continue this afternoon and evening as the front moves through the region. A freeze warning was issued east of the Cascades for Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. Overnight lows in the Rogue Valley were expected to be around 40 degrees.
