A public hearing on proposed administrative rule changes affecting the state's all-terrain vehicle program will be held Wednesday in Medford.

The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department hearing will be held from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Rogue Regency, 2300 Biddle Road, Medford. Similar hearings are being held in Salem and Bend this week.

The hearings are intended to gather input on a new state law requiring state rules to be amended to modify and expand the program's grant and safety education practices. The new law authorizes financial aid for ATV recreation-related law enforcement services and creates an All-Terrain Vehicle Advisory Committee with expanded safety responsibilities.

The rules and proposed changes can be read online at www.oregon.gov/OPRD/ATV/docs/OAR_736-004.pdf.

Written comments will be accepted by the department until 5 p.m. Thursday. They can be sent via e-mail at ATV.info@state.or.us or by regular mail to OPRD, ATV Program Coordinator, 725 Summer Street NE, Suite C, Salem, OR 97301.
