David E. McClurg Jr.

David E. McClurg Jr., of Las Vegas, Nev., passed away Dec. 16, 2009, in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. David was born May 20, 1941, in Klamath Falls, Ore. to David E. McClurg Sr. and Gladys Beagle McClurg. He attended Phoenix schools and served in the Army Reserve right after high school. David worked for BLM and building homes as Dandee Construction in Jackson County. He and his family adventured to Alaska in 1969 and in 38 years he worked construction, gold mining, became the owner of a Gold Nugget Jewelry store and worked for Central Environmental until his death. He and his wife lived in Las Vegas, Nev. since 2006, where he moved to for work with Central Environmental. While in Alaska, he enjoyed taking people to fish on his airboat and being at his cabin. He loved the challenges of his work and enjoyed car racing and all the adventures that Las Vegas brought to his life. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mavis; children, Ron (Belinda) McClurg, Sue (Mark) Callantine and Jackie (Paul) Henderson; grandchildren, Jeremy McClurg, Chad McClurg, Brandy Argo; great-grandson, Terje McClurg; sisters, Nina Gains and Della (Lynn) Bernston; and many nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his mother; father; and brother, Pat McClurg. There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life on Dec. 26, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at the Red Lion, 200 N. Riverside Ave., Medford, Ore. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Diabetes Association in his honor.
