Tualatin opened a 13-0 lead.

"We just were not ready to play, and they went backdoor layup, backdoor layup, backdoor layup to start the game," said Black Tornado coach Scott Plankenhorn.

Mike Levos scored all 14 of his points in the second half to lead North Medford (2-3). Kyle Waits added 12 points.

The Black Tornado faces Southridge at 1 today in the eight-team affair.

HUDSON BAY, WASH., 70, HIDDEN VALLEY 63 — At Aurora, second-ranked Hidden Valley squandered a monster game by Cody Krauss in the first round of the North Marion Christmas Classic.

Krauss, a 6-foot-4 senior, scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for the Mustangs (5-2), who placed three other players in double figures.

PHOENIX 62, MAZAMA 47 — At Phoenix, Skyler Reagan scored 20 points, went 7 of 8 from the free-throw line and was key in helping Phoenix pull away from nonconference foe Mazama.

The Pirates (8-1) were up 36-32 headed into the fourth quarter when Phoenix held off a couple Viking comeback attempts and hit free throws down the stretch to widen the gap.

Alex Young added 13 points and the Pirates welcomed Kyle Treadway's 10-point, 11-rebound, four-assist effort.

The Pirates' Alex Hobson chipped in nine points and Tyler Dungannon had eight.

Charles Swann paced the Vikings with 15 points and Daniel Mathis contributed 13 points.

The Pirates (4-7) were in foul trouble in the first half and lost their two leading scorers in the game, Kelsey George and Kelsie Bradfield, to fouls early in the fourth.

George and Bradfield each scored seven points.
