An armed man robbed a service station on the Rogue Valley Mall grounds just before midnight Monday and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Medford police are looking for a thin black man in his 20s in the robbery, which occurred at 11:02 p.m. Monday at the Shell station at 1968 Crater Lake Highway.

Police say they were at the station less than a minute after receiving a 9-1-1 call about the robbery, and that a police dog and officers searched the area but did not find the man.

He stood about 5-foot-8-inches tall and was wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and black shoes, police said.

Police said the man entered the station and showed the employee a handgun and demanded cash. The man left the area on foot, police say.

The investigation is ongoing, headed by Detective Kirk Cromwell. Police ask anyone with information about this case to call 774-2230.
