Elizabeth (Libbie) Greer

Elizabeth (Libbie) Greer passed on Dec. 16, 2009, at the age of 85. Libbie was born in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Jan. 16, 1924, and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority in Chattanooga, Tenn., as a map editor. While employed at TVA, she met her future husband, Earl Greer, and they were married on Oct. 26, 1947, in Chapel Hill, N.C. She and her husband later moved to El Cerrito, Calif., where they raised three children. In 1994 they moved to Ashland, Ore., where she volunteered for the Tudor Guild. In addition to volunteering, she also enjoyed gardening, knitting, and reading. She now joins her parents, Dr. Whitfield and Loula Hunter Cobb, and her brother, Whitfield Cobb, who passed before her. She is survived by her husband, Earl Greer; and her children, Sylvia Brooks Greer and her husband Andrew Nawrocky, Hunter Greer, and Allen Merrill Greer and his wife Shellie. Libbie requested that there be no service. She also requested that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made to the Salvation Army.
