Lois Claire Miller



Lois Claire Miller, 91, passed away on Dec. 11, 2009, in Central Point, Ore. She was born in Wichita, Kans. on Aug. 21, 1918, the first daughter of Rev. Clarence and Lennie Miller.



Lois graduated from high school in Russell, Kans. and from York College in York, Nebr. She has had a life-long career in service with the Evangelical United Brethren and United Methodist churches. Her first employment with the church was a post as a teacher in a mission school in Velarde, N.M. From there her work took her to Dayton, Ohio and New York City, N.Y., where she retired from the position of General Secretary of the Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church in 1982.



In 1983 she moved to Medford, Ore., and quickly became an active member of the Medford United Methodist Church and of the United Methodist Women. She loved to sing and was a member through the years of many church choirs. Lois was a member and leader of the Auxiliary of the Rogue Valley Hospital.



Lois is survived by three sisters and their families; Mary Lou (Burch) Wright of San Antonio, Texas, Marjorie (Robert) Sisson of Longmont, Colo. and Wanda (Milton) Snow of Medford.



A Service of Celebration of Lois' life will be held Sunday, January 3, 2010, at Medford First United Methodist Church at — p.m. Any memorial contributions may be mailed to the church at 670 West Main St., Medford, OR 97501, to be used for world and home missions.
