Democrats can begin sorting out the candidates for Jackson County commissioner today when three hopefuls for position 3 debate in Medford.

The debate is at 6:30 p.m. at the Oregon Uniserv Office at 2495 S. Pacific Highway, Medford. The debate is during the monthly meeting of the Democratic Central Committee, but it's open to the public.

Candidates Buck Eichler, Mark Wisnovsky and Jim Sims will talk about their views in the race to replace Democratic Commissioner Dave Gilmour, who is not seeking re-election. The victor in the May 18 primary will face the winner of a five-way Republican primary.

Before the debate, Jeff Golden, the lone Democratic candidate for position 1 on the board of commissioners, will talk about his views. Position 1 is now held by Republican Jack Walker, who is seeking re-election and who faces three Republican opponents in the May 18 primary.
