Lucile B. Dunn

Lucile B. Dunn, 79, of Phoenix, Ore., passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, following a prolonged illness. She died peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her husband, David; son, Steven; and daughter, Kathleen.

She was born March 29, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., during a snowstorm. She was raised on the northwest side of the city, attended Nixon Elementary School, Kelvyn Park High School, and graduated from MacCormack Business College in the Loop. Lu was in the travel business for many years, traveling to many parts of the world. Her life changed course when she met her future husband on a Greyhound bus. Lu and Dave were married on May 24, 1952. They moved west to Oregon, and owned and operated the Phoenix Motel for over 17 years. Lu enjoyed the outdoors her whole life. During her early years she enjoyed hunting, riding, and fencing. She also enjoyed bowling, golfing and belly dancing. She was a great fisherman. She always caught the biggest fish. While half her life was spent in Chicago, Ill., she loved the natural beauty of Oregon, and chose the friendly hills of the Rogue Valley as her home for her remaining years.

She is survived by husband, Dave; and also her granddaughter, Tiffany, of Eugene, Ore. Services will be at the Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point,Ore., April 1, 2010, at 11:00 a.m.
