Audrey Alice Berry



Audrey Berry passed away March 28, 2010, at Arbor Place, her home for the past six years, in Medford, Ore. She was born November 28, 1918, to Owen and Bertha Barbee in Oak Creek, Colo. Her family moved to the Rogue Valley in 1927. She graduated from Medford High School in 1936, and graduated from Southern Oregon Normal School (SOU) in 1938.



Audrey started her teaching career in Sixes, Ore., in 1938. While living in Sixes, she married James Herman Shults, and had a son, Jerry (wife, Joan) Shults; two grandchildren, Lisa Pecktol and K.C. Sam; and three great-grandchildren, Josh and Alex Pecktol and Jessica Pettigrew-Sam. James died in 1942.



Audrey then moved back to Medford and taught at Oak Grove Country School for 15 years and at Howard School for 21 years before retiring. During this time, she received her bachelor of arts degree in education and married, John W. Berry in 1952. Her marriage to John Berry brought with it, two stepchildren, Rosella (husband, Eddie) Shay and Roger (wife, Sandy) Berry; one grandchild, Dan Shay; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Berry is also survived by her brother, Robert L Barbee.



She enjoyed traveling, camping, her many friends, and especially her family. Audrey was a long-time member of the Medford Friends Church and the Medford Friends Women's Missionary.



A celebration of her life will be held Friday, April 2, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., at Siskiyou Memorial Park / Perl Funeral Home and a viewing on Thursday, April 1, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to encourage donations to the Medford Friends Women's Missionary, 525 DeBarr Ave., Medford, OR, 97501.
