Two young men who allegedly attempted to rob someone at knifepoint outside a convenience store on Table Rock Road Tuesday night are jailed on $1 million bail.

Medford police arrested Juan Pablo Vargas-Sanabria,19, and Damian Miguel Regalado, 20, when the two returned to the Minute Market parking lot at 2521 Table Rock Road to get their car while police were interviewing the victim and witnesses of an attempted robbery, Medford police Lt. Bob Hansen said in a news release.

A man left the store a few minutes before 11 p.m. and was accosted by two men. One of them brandished a knife and demanded money, police said.

The man didn't hand over any money. He ran back into the store and called police. The two would-be robbers ran away and disappeared into the darkness.

Officers were at the store, interviewing people in the lot, when Regalado and Vargas-Sanabria came to get a vehicle parked there, Hansen said. Witnesses identified them as the robbers, although the two were wearing different clothes than they had been at the time of the crime.

Police arrested each of them on a charge of attempted first-degree robbery. They were lodged in the Jackson County Jail, where they remained today on $1 million bail each.
