Activities for the kids, helicopter and airplane rides and aircraft and rescue equipment all are part of the Ashland airport's annual open house this weekend.

The event is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the airport at 403 Dead Indian Memorial Road. Some activities are free.

Free airplane rides for children ages 6 to 12 will be available from 9 to 11 a.m., weather permitting. Organizers also plan kids' activities including a jump house and hands-on projects geared toward aviation.

A pancake breakfast is set from 8 to 11 a.m., and a barbecue lunch is planned.

Helicopter rides for $35 per person will be available after 10 a.m. Airplane rides will be available from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for $35 per person. There will be various aircraft available to view, along with vehicles from Ashland Fire and Rescue and the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.
