Verna Eileen Denton

Verna Eileen Denton, 81, Mountain Home, Idaho, formerly of Medford, Ore., left this life to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, May 14, 2010, from a local hospital. Verna was born an only child on August 11, 1928, in Harvey N.D., to James E Long and Blanch (Powell) Long.

On December 13, 1943, Verna married the love of her life and best friend, Ervin Denton. They resided in Medford for much of their married life, leaving only a few times to live in Salt Lake City, Utah. Verna lost her husband and best friend in October 1992.

Verna was a wonderful cook, working in several high end restaurants over the years. Those who knew and loved her will miss her very much, but her infectious laugh will be missed most. She enjoyed hunting, and being outdoors, but our fondest memories were of her sitting on a fish bank or going out on a boat to try to catch the Big One.

She is survived by children, Linda (Marvin) Reisch, of Willard, N.C., Patricia (Kenneth) Currey, of Salem, Mo., John William Bill (Charmaine) Denton, of Bruneau, Idaho, James (Karma) Denton, of Medford, Ore., Denese (George) White, of Portland, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Verna is preceded in death by both parents; husband, Ervin; grandson, Scott Hansen; and great-grandson, Jacob Keener.

A celebration of Verna's life is planned for 3:30 p.m., on July 3, 2010, at Howard Prairie Lake, Willow Point campground, space # 31, in Ashland, Ore. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to The Humane Society of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, Mountain Home, Idaho.
