Dry weather is coming, and so is a deadline for Medford residents to trim tall grass, brush and weeds.

Fire officials on Tuesday, June 1 will begin enforcing an ordinance that requires property owners to cut grass, brush and weeds to no more than 10 inches or face fines, fire officials said in a news release.

The restrictions remain in place through Sept. 30 unless the fire department determines then that the fire hazard remains high.

Vegetation in landscaped yards, crops, grass grown as pasture and "natural areas" in public parks are exempt from the ordinance.
