BEAVERTON — Morgan Barnes pitched a two-hit shutout with 16 strikeouts and the third-ranked Grants Pass softball team blanked Jesuit, 6-0, in the second round of the Class 6A state playoffs at Jesuit High School on Wednesday.

Barnes, who allowed two walks in the win, added a two-run single in the seventh inning.

Grants Pass (23-4) travels to play Canby (14-12) in the quarterfinals on Friday.

The Cavers collected nine stolen bases against the Crusaders (18-9), and Hannah Fischer and D Jantzer hit RBI singles in the third inning.

Class 3A Softball

ROGUE RIVER 3, CLATSKANIE 2 — At West Linn, Lynette Rojas' sacrifice fly in the top of the six inning provided Rogue River the eventual game-winning run in the opening round of the Class 3A state playoffs at Rosemont Ridge Middle School.

Rojas drove in Lacey Swangle, who got on with a walk and stole second base. She advanced to third on an error.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Chieftains (17-5) executed a double play to end the game.

Sara Segura had an RBI single in the second inning and Kalin Honea scored on an error in the third against the Tigers (17-7).

McKenzie Cates pitched a four-hitter with four strikeouts and four walks. Joanne Jesse hit a double and single for Rogue River, which hosts Harrisburg at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Class 4A Baseball

HIDDEN VALLEY 15, PLEASANT HILL 10 — At Eugene, Dylan Armanino pounded a three-run home run and Hidden Valley used a nine-run fifth inning to clinch the Class 4A playoff game at rainy PK Park.

Pleasant Hill's starting pitcher carried a no-hitter into the fifth before things ultimately unraveled.

The Mustangs (19-6) next travel to Philomath (17-9) for Friday's quarterfinals.
