It's a weekend of cleats and shin guards, and lots of them, as 141 youth teams and their families pour into the Medford area for the annual Rogue Valley Cup soccer tournament.

Play begins at 8 this morning and continues through 10 p.m. Monday at fields around the city. Athletes ages 10 to 19 from Oregon, Washington, Nevada and California will play more than 300 games in all at U.S. Cellular Community Park, North Medford High School, Fichtner-Mainwaring Park and Jefferson Elementary.

Games begin at 8 today, Sunday and Monday, and championship play begins at 10 a.m. Monday. The tournament is sponsored by the Rogue Valley Cup Soccer Association.
