CARSON CITY, Nev. — Travis Wolf had the game-winning hit and pitcher Johnny Omahen delivered two keys strikeouts as the Southern Oregon RiverDawgs amateur baseball team earned a split against the Nevada Bighorns on Sunday.

Southern Oregon lost the first game, 8-3, and rallied for a thrilling 8-7 victory in the nightcap.

With two on and one out in the top of the ninth, Wolf sent a hit past Carson City's second baseman, allowing Steve Candelaria to score the tying run. Jonah Northrup, who was also on base, scored the winning run on a poor throw by the Bighorns' right fielder.

Omahen sealed the deal on the mound, inducing a groundout and then striking out the final two batters.

Kyle Secciani, Chris Bradshaw and Omahen all had two hits for the RiverDawgs (6-5).

Nick Rodda hit a solo home run and Secciani, Northrup and Jack Graham all had two hits in the opener.

MEDFORD 13, FAIRFIELD, CALIF., 3, 7 inn. — At Salem, the Medford Mustangs used 20 hits to defeat the Fairfield, Calif., Expos and capture third place in the Willamette Classic.

Matt Maurer, who went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and a run, invoked the 10-run mercy rule with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Seth Brown hit a three-run home run in the sixth and finished 3-for-5 with three runs. Daniel Katayama was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, Garrett Tygerson 3-for-5 with two runs and Lucas Stone 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run.

Medford (10-2) finished 2-2 at the tournament. The Mustangs begin Area 4 League play against the Challengers in Eugene Tuesday.

CASCADE CHRISTIAN/ST. MARY'S 2-1, NORTH MEDFORD 2-16 — Cascade Christian/St. Mary's scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to rally past North Medford in the opener of their twinbill at Harry & David Field.

Jake Miller drove home Kyle Treadway to take a 2-1 lead, just after Treadway knotted the score with a run-scoring double.

Cascade Christian/St. Mary's Colton Cochran pitched well, allowing just one earned run in seven innings.

Treadway finished 2-for-3 — both were doubles — while North Medford's Tyler Gould finished 3-for-3 and drove in the Mavericks' only run.

Elias Miller and Brian Carbonell helped the Mavericks rebound in the nightcap.

Miller allowed one earned run on five hits, one walk and struck out two. He went 3-for-4, scored twice and had an RBI.

Carbonell reeled off a 4-for-5, four-RBI performance for the Mavericks, who won in six innings in virtue of the 10-run mercy rule.

Also for the Mavs, Jared Miller was 2-for-4.
