Southern Oregon head volleyball coach Josh Rohlfing announced the signing of four individuals to national letters of intent to play for the Raiders during the 2010 season.

The group features junior college transfer Lauren Swetland (Cottonwood, Calif.) and high school products Claire Pynes (Etna, Calif.), Shannon Taylor (San Marcos, Calif.) and Sammie Waite (Crescent Valley).

Swetland, a 6-foot-1 middle blocker, is coming off a pair of impressive seasons at Shasta College. Swetland earned All-Northern California and All-Golden Valley Conference honors as a freshman and sophomore. As a sophomore, Swetland led the state in blocking and finished in the top five as a freshman.

Pynes comes to SOU after leading Etna High School to Shasta Cascade League Championships in 2007 and 2009. The 5-9 hitter earned All-SCL honors as a sophomore, junior and senior and was named the league's MVP as a junior.

Taylor is a 5-10 outside hitter/middle blocker from San Marcos High School. As a senior, Taylor earned All-San Diego County League honors after leading her team in kills and blocks.

Waite, a 5-10 libero, earned back-to-back all-conference honors in volleyball and also was named All-Conference in softball.

SOU went 24-4 last year, won the Cascade Conference championship and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament with a team that featured just two seniors.
