Those who want help establishing the paternity of their child can get free DNA tests and other assistance from the Medford Child Support Office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 26 at the state offices, 310 E. Sixth St., Suite 300, Medford.

Staff will answer questions about paternity, help mothers, fathers and families complete paternity forms and conduct DNA tests if needed, according to a press release from the Child Support Office.

Individuals can establish paternity — the legal father of a child — through marriage by completing a Voluntary Acknowledgement of Paternity form and filing it with Vital Records, or through a court or administrative legal process.

Establishing the biological father gives the child access to family medical records and to medical, veterans, Social Security, inheritance and other benefits from both parents.

Similar events are happening throughout the state. For more information, phone 541-776-6043 or visit www.dcs.state.or.us/services/paternity.htm.
