A distinctly Southern Oregon festival with a national name makes its annual appearance this weekend in the town of Rogue River.

A distinctly Southern Oregon festival with a national name makes its annual appearance this weekend in the town of Rogue River.

The 2010 National Rooster Crow, featuring both fowl and human contestants and other events, takes place through Sunday in Rogue River.

The crowing contests begin at 2 p.m. today at Rogue River Elementary School, 290 Pine St. Also scheduled today are a five-kilometer run and two-mile walk at 8 a.m. at Rogue River Middle School, a 10 a.m. parade and activities, arts and crafts and food booths and a 3:30 p.m. concert featuring the group River City. The festival continues Sunday with an antique car show at the elementary school and boat racing along the Rogue River.
