Rising Phoenix Martial Arts instructors Joshua and Jeremy Roarty, along with teammates John McNally and Paul Denz, came home with the first and second place trophies, respectively, after competing in the Self Defense division at the IMAC World Martial Arts Championships in Las Vegas.

The Self Defense division involves demonstrating how one would defend themself against various attacks.

The Roarty twins, graduates of Phoenix High, have now placed among the top three at the World Championships a combined dozen times. McNally hails from Montague, Calif., while Denz is from Yreka, Calif.
