An outbuilding was destroyed by fire Monday morning just outside Ashland, Jackson County Fire District No. 5 reported.

The blaze was reported about 8:45 a.m., said District 5 Capt. Jim Campbell. Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the small building and extinguished the flames within 10 minutes. They remained at the scene Monday morning cleaning up and investigating the fire's cause, Campbell said.

The property at 3293 Highway 66 has several small buildings used as sheds and studios, according to Jackson County property records. It is owned by John and Jacqueline Johnston.
