The Jackson County Fair gets under way today, and kids and seniors can get in free as long as they go early.

The fair runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. today at the Jackson County Fairgrounds and Exposition Park, 1 Peninger Road, Central Point. Carnival rides open at noon and run until midnight. The fair then continues daily through Sunday.

Admission most days is $9 for adults, $6 for youth ages 7 to 12 and seniors 62 and older and free for children 6 and younger, but kids under 12 and seniors 62 and older get in free until 5 p.m. today.

Parking is $4, or a shuttle service runs for $1 between the fairgrounds and Central Point and Medford stops.

Concerts also are scheduled daily; tonight's features the country group Little Big Town. It begins at 8 p.m., and lawn seating is free. Reserved seats go for $10 and do not include the $9 fair admission.
