Medford-based Harry & David plans to outsource its Hebron, Ohio call-center operations.

Medford-based Harry & David plans to outsource its Hebron, Ohio call-center operations.

The Newark, Ohio, Advocate reported today that call center activities will be turned over to a third-party vendor sometime between mid-September and mid-October. The call center used about 800 seasonal employees during the Christmas sales months.

Ed Dunlap, chief financial officer for the Medford gourmet food and gift giant, said fewer than 10 full-time employees will be laid off as a result of the action.

There is no word whether a similar action will follow in Medford, where a call center continues to operate. Dunlap did not immediately return a call today.
