A sight not seen often in Southern Oregon — sailboat races — comes to a mountain lake Saturday during the Howard Prairie Regatta.

The annual competition gets under way at noon at Howard Prairie Lake east of Ashland. It's free to spectators.

Competitors from around the region will take to the lake for two days of racing.
