If you watch Fox's news at 10 p.m., you will see faces familiar to viewers of the local NBC affiliate. That's because the two separately owned channels have a financial partnership for news production, said Bob Wise, vice president and general manager of KOBI.

Since March of 2006 when Fox-affiliate KMVU launched its nightly newscast, the team at KOBI has produced the 10 p.m. show at its studios and sent them across town to KMVU, he explained.

He declined to disclose the terms of the contract between the two stations, but described it as "a great partnership between two great organizations."

He said channels in Eugene operate under a similar agreement, as did those in the Chico and Redding, Calif., areas at one time. Such arrangements help provide an array of news offerings across the schedule for viewers, he said.

By the way, Joan, we have it on good authority that one of those familiar faces who appears on both newscasts will soon be appearing on neither.

Audrey Kuchen, anchor of the 10 p.m. KMVU news and co-anchor for KOBI, is returning to her home turf on the East Coast.
