Patricia Ann Mounts



Patricia Ann Mounts passed away July 21, 2010, at Sacred Heart River Bend Hospital, in Springfield, Ore. She was born October 7, 1926, in Honolulu, Hawaii.



Pat earned a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Oregon. Her teaching career began at Elmira High School and ended when she retired from Medford Senior High School. In addition to teaching, she was the girl's tennis coach. Her teams won four state championships and several other awards at both the State and district level. In 1976, she was awarded the Western District Tennis Coach of the Year; as well as the National Tennis Coach of the Year, presented in Orlando, Fla.



As a teacher, she was appointed to many national and regional committees devoted to the improvement of physical education programs. Pat was the president of the state physical education organization (OAPHER).



Pat enjoyed many activities in retirement, including weaving, working jigsaw and crossword puzzles and reading.



Pat is survived by brother, Richard Mounts; neice, Dana Mounts; nephews, David Mounts, of California, Dean Mounts, of Texas and Dwight Mounts, Hawaii.



At her request, she was cremated and there will be no service. Contributions in her name may be made to Dogs for the Deaf, 10175 Wheeler Rd., Central Point, OR 97502.
