Anita Frances Niedermeyer



Anita Frances Niedermeyer, 77, passsed away at her home on July 24, 2010. She was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Ore. Anita was born July 9, 1933, to Otto and Elizabeth (Meier) Heckert, in Medford, Ore. She attended school in Jacksonville, graduating from Jacksonville High School, District #1, in 1950 as valedictorian.



In May of 1953 she married Richard O. Niedermeyer. Being a homemaker and farm wife, she fed the crews during the harvest seasons. Everyone raved over her chocolate chip cookies. Yes, they will be missed.



Working outside the home, she was a preschool teacher at the First Presbyterian Church in Medford as well as playing piano at the Jacksonville Prebyterian Church for many different types of occasions.



Anita was an avid reader, having several favorite poets and authors, and she loved music. She enjoyed cooking and gardening, and always had room in her heart for stray pets. She provided care for her uncle and parents in their final years.



She leaves behind her beloved cat, Sophie Rose, and her loving family. Survivors include her three sons; Richard (Claire) of Jacksonville, Ore., Robert (Barbara) of Applegate, Ore., John (Kelly) of Canby, Ore.; and seven grandchildren; Bethany, Hanns, Ben of Jacksonville, Ore., Joshua, Tyler, Elizabeth of Applegate, Ore., and Erin of Canby, Ore. She is also survived by her aunt, Helene Milligan; sister in law, Nadeane Heckert; and cousin, Gretchen DeFord.



She was preceded in death by an infant son, Phillip, her parents, Otto and Elizabeth Heckert, and a brother, Donald Heckert.



In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Southern Oregon Humane Society.



A memorial service will be held July 30, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at the Old Presbyterian Church on California St., in Jacksonville, Ore. She will be laid to rest at a private graveside n Jacksonville, Ore. Funeral arrangements furnished by Conger-Morris, Medford Chapel.
