Rental vacancies in Jackson and Josephine counties dipped below 4 percent in June.

Southern Oregon Rental Owners Association members reported 172 vacancies out of 4,381 reporting units, a 3.93 percent rate. That's a dramatic turn around from June 2009's 9.42 percent vacancy rate when there were 414 vacancies out of 4,392 reporting units.

The association reported June vacancy rates of 5.5 percent in 2008 and 5.9 percent in 2007. The rental market was tighter still in 1999 when the June vacancy rate was 2.3 percent.
