Helen was born May 23, 1920, in Santa Ana, Calif., to Gilbert and Eva Wright. She died September 26, 2010, in Coos Bay, at Bay Area Hospital.
Helen attended Willow Springs School in Central Point, Ore., and graduated from Central Point High School in 1939. On November, 22, 1939, she married John Russell Wilson, in Central Point, Ore. Russell died January 4, 1967. On January 31, 1974, Helen married Bert Biederman in Coquille, Ore. Bert died December 27, 1975.
For many years Helen rang the Salvation Army bells at Christmas in Medford. She also drove a pilot car and worked in housekeeping at the Tioga Hotel in Coos Bay. She made
needle point music boxes, worked for the Jackson County Election Counting Board, and was a freelance photographer for the Central Point newspaper.
Helen was a lifetime member of the Rebeccas and was noble grand for both Cental Point and Coos Bay chapters. In 1998, she received the Order of Chivalry. She also was a member of the Salvation Army's Home League in Medford.
Helen is survived by Betty and Melvin Carson, of Medford; Ruthane Pickersgill and John Wilson, both of Portland; grandsons, David N. Carson, of Medford, and Kevin H. Pickersgill; granddaughter, Laurie Adams; sisters, Virginia West, of Biggs, Calif, and Ida Whitley, of Show Low, Ariz.; and caregivers, Pam O'Sullivan and Penny Wright.
In addition to her husbands, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Neil Wright and Floyd Wright; and sisters, Lorraine Grey and Kathleen Wright.
A memorial service will be held for Helen Biederman, 90, of Coos Bay, at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October, 2, 2010, at the Seabird Chapel Church of God, 950 Seabird Dr., Bandon, OR, with Pastor Don Minkler officiating. Burial was held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Medford, Ore. Arrangements are under the direction of Conger~Morris, 541-772-7111.
